Framing Strategy & Vision in Your Resume

The Strategy score separates PMs who execute a plan from PMs who set one. Even if strategy was not your title, you almost certainly made directional calls — the job is to make them visible.

Zoom out one level

For your biggest projects, add the "why now" and the "instead of what": "Prioritized enterprise SSO over 4 smaller requests to unblock a $2M segment." That shows you allocate scarce resources toward outcomes.

Words that read as strategy

  • Bets, prioritization, positioning, north-star metric, trade-offs, thesis, roadmap rationale.
  • Avoid "strategic" as a vague adjective — show the strategic choice instead.

Connect work to the business

Tie a project to a company goal: "Aligned the H2 roadmap to the retention goal, concentrating three teams on activation." Reviewers reading for senior roles look for exactly this line.

Checklist

  • One bullet showing a prioritization decision and what you said no to.
  • A metric that is a business outcome, not just a feature output.
  • A link between your work and a stated company objective.
